Hi, I accidently, meaning I was just looking at prices, bought a Leica M3 from an RFF member off of eBay last week. The camera came without a take up spool, as was advertised. I bought a new, in box, spool with a buy it now off of ebay for an obscene $60.00 but I figured it was better to have one and be able to use the camera than spend months looking for one.
So my question is: do I stick this spool in my camera and use it, or do I keep looking and sell this one to someone who cares about the N.O.S. status?
This is my first Leica, although I have always wanted one because of it's reputation. For a lens I have a nickel Elmar on the way, chosen because of what I have read on this forum. You people have been my best single source of information on this new adventure.
Thanks,
John

I would use it. You will typically pay $30 or so for a used one. I keep a spare, that way I pre-thread the spool and just drop it in to reload.
