CORRECTION:
KEH has (1) 49mm hood. They may have the 48mm to 49mm ring also to save on postage. Does Edmonton have a real camera shop with old do-dads like step up rings & ancient lens hoods? What about the big used camera store in Calgary? I had to ban myself from that place. Too dangerous.

old fashioned search skills...
i went to the local camera shop, and dug into the bargain bin...found dozens of rubber hoods in 48mm size...$1. each...i bought 2.
lots of filters as well but no uv filters...
good enough for now...today, i will see what the little 50 can do on the m4-p and the rd1...tho i think i'm going to start looking for a canon 50/1.5...

i finally found a metal hood sized 48mm from heliopan...on ebay of course...24 bucks with shipping...ordered today...
