And Joe, with that infinity lock, I think some lens owners liked to disable it by removing a spring or filing down the catch on the barrel.

i recall something about that now also.
i'll wait till he wakes up.
is there something i can 'grease' the threads with?
olive oil perhaps?
joe
Truth is, at 39 I am not as sharp as I used to be. More about things that I do and how I did them. Give me something like this though, and it sticks like glue. I don't know why.
Olive oil congeals when it gets cold.

a pencil! genius! thanks g'man.
frank, i thik you are right about the spring. there is no spring there and it may have been removed. anyone know how to put it back?
rover, my memory has never been all that good but sometimes the strangest things just pop to mind.
i'm feeling better. hard to believe that i got so wound up so quick. i'm usually much more level headed.
plus it shows how lucky i have been with my internet purchases so far. my lenses are generally in pretty good shape.

Good memory indeed Rover ! The issue with my 7 is also strange, as some FSU lenses seem to have problems to screw in all the way, and some don't screw at all. Curiously, the Canons and Cosina screw perfectly, but OTH those Ruskies also screw perfectly on a 'real' Voigtlander LTM adapter.
There may be slight differences in the threads between your cameras, or maybe the threads on the lens are somewhat bent if the metal is soft, or maybe they are from the slightly different thread mount of the previous canons or maybe they were damaged at some point...
My advice, try to find a store locally with which you feel confident and tell them to lety you try to screw the lens into some ltm body if they have or into a Leica/Voigtlander/Generic LTM/M adapter otherwise and see if it presents some resistance.
If it screws perfectly in the adapter, well, then it's time to get a Leica M2 for it
PS: It's always a good idea to look through the open shutter when screwing a suspicious lens. As for my own problems with the 7, I seriously think the threads on it are a bit damaged and that's the source of the problem.

good day oscar!
i tried g'man's trick with the pencil and it now screws on to all the bodies, but with the 7 i have to apply the most pressure.
the lens is actually in very nice shape and except for a touch of binding at the closer distances it works well. i think a touch of lube might fix that.
my major disappointment is not being able to collapse it all the way in on any of my canon bodies. it really isn't much of a smaller package than the tiny 1.8.
in fact when it is extended and with a hood on it looks longer than the 1.8.
of course that is not the lense's fault. i should have researched it better.
i may sell it just for that reason though.

so, there is a 7 hour difference between our time zones?
anyone know of a site that has a intenational clock or something that could tell me what time it is everywhere?

joe, you can search for "world clock" or something like that - back when I used to use Windows, there was quite a nifty international clock or something, and it was also freeware if I remember correctly...
