Canon LTM need your thinking caps

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I've been reading all of your posts in a rather contemplative mood, and I'm struck by the fact that I just don't cotton up to 50mm lenses. I have a killer Super Takumar 50/1.4 for my Spotmatics and I think I've used it once or twice just to make sure it was everything it was supposed to be. It was.

It's the focal length. If I want to do a portrait I'll use a 75 or an 80 or a 105. If I want to do street shooting the cv35/2.5 on a Bessa R is my first choice. For more extreme stuff I use the Bessa L with the 25/4. When I want to fill the frame with a face I'll hand hold my 135/2.5. When I do landscape or bird photography I'll use very long lenses for birds or a 28mm for landscapes.

I can't seem to find a situation where I would want to use a 50mm lens. Only way I can do this is to leave the frickin house with a Zorki or a Kiev with their J8's and just live with them. But I don't, really, which is probably why I don't use them much.

And I always feel that I could have gotten a better image with another lens, yet I know full well that image quality with some of those 50's doesn't get much better. Clearly, I need help here.

Joe, keep in mind that a 1.4 is less than 1 stop faster than 1.8 and usually not as sharp overall as a really sharp 1.8.

Nope. Not mine -- I only take Paypal (it's just easier than trying to cash a cheque overseas). Anyway, the 50/1.4 is still available if anyone's interested.
