Hi Guys,
I am the owner of a Nikon Coolscan V ed and I just noticed that it does not have a CMYK scanning option. In other words I can only scan in RGB.
I wanted to know if that is really the case, i.e. that there is no way of scanning in CMYK.
Also, would that be a problem if I wanted to get some prints from my digital files? I mean could I print CMYK from the file scanned in RGB? Or would the quality be much worse than if I printed from the negative?
I would really appreciate if you guys could help.
Thank you in advance.
Frankie

It is there, somewhere.
Make sure you have the latest version of NikonScan - look on the Nikon website.
Then go into preferences and I know it is there (I saw it yesterday and was wondering what it was for).

I just checked the release notes for 4.0 and we have this:
"The “CMYK” option for the color model menu has been removed and conversion to CMYK profile can now be selected when saving images in TIFF (CMYK) format."

Could I possibly ask what the benefits of CMYK over RGB are?

CMYK is nice to print in. But there is no reasonable way it can be natively scanned - and no need to convert it in the scan stage.
