Hi rpilottx, not sure what kind of tips you are interested in, but I recall arriving at the airport and seeing hundreds of taxi drivers pressed against the glass door outside the airport clamouring to take you into the main tourist area of town, Thamel. Rather than get mobbed, my friend and I opted to use the transport desk inside the airport 🙂
If you're like me, the water there will take some getting used to. For the first couple of days at least, you might want to play it safe and stick to drinking hot tea (plain and without milk). Once your body has gotten used to it, i.e. no tummy aches or diarrhoea, you can then get adventurous with food and drink.
I guess the other poster covered the rest. Don't expect speedy service and don't be in a rush. Always leave a buffer for unexpected events, especially when trekking. At the end of our trek, my friend and I waited about 2 days for the plane to fly out of the Manang area. Each day, we'd walk about 3 hours to the airport, only to find that the plane wasn't coming that day. Despite the delay, we hardly minded. The scenery is gorgeous. In fact, I dream of returning all the time!
Have a good trip and do share your photos 🙂
