I don't want to sound snarky but.... why not shop for need instead of availability?
Yeah... Fuji has a 200mm and an 80mm... if you need them for something great otherwise ??
Just trying to understand.
i've always bought and then sold in order to move my kit along...i'm tired of selling one lens to get another.
my new bucket list point is to buy what i want and keep it if i want it and save till i can afford to buy another piece of gear.
if i were wealthy i would buy everything fuji sells and just enjoy it when or where i please...

Except that you make your buying habits public business when you post on an international photography forum asking others what you should buy, and then prattle on about whether you should buy the 200 (which hasn't even been released) to replace your 55-200 (which you admit buying because you "might" need it), or wonder whether you should buy the 80mm macro (which also hasn't even been released) because you "might" use it. You even said you would take my advice if you were wealthy, so I'm not sure what you are complaining about.my buying habits, how i like to shoot or not shoot is my business...and not really yours...and i just generally find you an ignorant prick(ly) person.
so in the future please refrain from joining in on any thread i may start.

I suggest you take your own advice.i now own 6 fuji bodies and 8 fuji lenses...now to bring my talent level up to the same level.

a simpleton such as yourself might not understand but i hold no compulsion to teach you anything.

The truth is often difficult to accept. Enjoy your camera collecting.
The truth is often difficult to accept. Enjoy your camera collecting.
And if people want to collect cameras that is ok. Please relax and realize that not everyone buys cameras due to needs and that some buy due to wants. It's their money and they can do with it what they please. Keep it civil.

Hang on - going by your sig you have no 14mm, no 18mm, only one of the 35s, ditto 56s, and you're missing the 60mm. You're going to have to fill out the wide-to-normal part of our collection before we let you go long.
Bad Fujiwhore. Bad!
(edit: where'd it go? Spooky...)

anyone else toying with the a similar idea?
A few years ago, I would have jumped at a Fuji 200mm f/2.8 macro lens. However, I could not wait for Fuji to produce such a lens. I ended up using a Fuji 50-140mm f/2.8 zoom as my longest Fuji lens. If I need anything longer, I use adapted Nikon telephoto primes.

except for the fancy 56 i have owned all those other lenses...i have been looking for a cheap 60 but to no avail. the 14 is a magnificent lens but the 16 is better.
to be honest, i don't shoot as much as i used to but that's because i have a most uncooperative hip and my forays into the photo world are just shorter than they used to be.

reality says that the 55-200 is plenty for me and my wants for a long lens.

When he's caught in an alleyway selling his body for lens filters, it'll be all your fault. I hope you can live with yourself.

I'm not using bags per se, I have a belly bag that I might use if I want to take a lens or two but otherwise I just carry the camera and maybe an extra battery. Like you, I have minor mobility issues and don't find myself doing long excursions so it seems unnecessary
to add to the load.

the f802 is my day bag...carries my lunch, ipad sometimes, reading material and some drugs (prescription) etc.
i too carry one camera with lens attached at times...in winter fits into coat pocket nicely.
