New 50mm f1.1

Interesting thread, thanks all for the photos

PS:I should remember that I do not need another lens, I do not need another lens, I do not need another lens, I do not need...., I do not... 🙂

I can confirm that it is also a problem for the KS-15(4) (military version of the M2-R), so I would assume it would be a problem on the M2-R.

Edit: Looking closely at my lens, it appears that the problem, at least with my lens & KS-15(4), is caused by the larger lens locking pin described by xayraa33 in post #252, not the size of the lens release button. The lens will rotate to the correct locking position, but doesn't lock.
The shutter release button of the M4 is rounder and the extra part towards the lens mount prevents the lens from being mounted. It's the same for some big lenses such as the Canon 85mm f1.5 LTM.

Actually, even it's not mentioned by 7Artisans, I believe it will affect not only all M4 cameras, but also early M4-2 cameras (those with red dot on the release button are fine) and early M3 cameras.

. . .

Sorry to re-post, but as I said on the previous page, my one week old 1.1 fits my M4.
Earlier articles suggested a new release in September. It is now September 🙂

Do the older lenses have this slot in the lens or does this mean it is a new batch?

My lens arrived this past weekend & has the slot as it should. However, per my earlier post, I am experiencing a "failure-to-mount" w/my KS-15(4)/M2-R (serial #1163***) that seems to have more to do w/the size/shape/position of the lens locking pin (or the slot in the lens).

The 7Artisans mounts fine on an M4 (serial #1184***, made the approximately the period as the KS-15(4)). I no longer have a regular M2 to compare, but the lens also mounts correctly on an M3 (serial #9866**) & modern (M5 & later) film & digital M bodies.

Optically, my 7Artisans front-focuses a bit at f/1.1, but nothing I can't handle by leaning forward a bit when necessary (at close distances, about the width of a frameline).

There is no hope of NOT buying this lens 🙂

You are doomed Raid!

Me too if it comes to that!

It certainly appears to render very nicely - and according to a review I just read its a Sonnar lens. Yummy, no wonder it renders well. In fact it's my favorite kind of yummy.

EDIT: Having said that other threads say pictures on its box show it to be an Ultron design. And yet more say its design is similar to the classic rare and expensive Zunow 5cm f1.1 which is a Sonnar. I will leave it to others with more knowledge of optical design types to comment.

It’s designed to be a Sonnar, I asked the guys who designed it, they confirms the Sonnar was their inspiration. Not only that, but it very much acts like one

Anyone's lens falling out of focus? When I first received the lens, it was bang on. Few weeks later, it forward focuses by quite a bit now.

It sounds like your focus adjustment screws may have come loose. Recalibrate (using the provided chart if you want) and retighten.

I used the 50/1.1 again yesterday, and each image had a purple band at the edge of the image. I used a M 240 with this lens. I have been advised that a IR-cut filter is needed with this lens and the M 240 or the M8.

Oh I forgot about the adjustment chart. I did a quick calibration and it's all good now.
It's a little bit too easy to calibrate though.

Now to decide which lens to take for travel.
