Thank you for detailed answer! After I re-glued crappy plastic focus tab on Canadian M lens and fixed falling out metal tab on CV SC 35 PII nothing scares me 🙂

I store my Ms with shutter set at 1 sec and lens set at minimum distance (RF arm spring is not loaded).

I like what lens is shipped with matching tab, I could position it by myself. I prefer tab to be at the bottom if it is at 3 meters. This way I know where to rotate focus without looking at the lens at any time...

I put the tabs on mine and while they are nice to have they could be better. They are made from a pretty soft rubber and have too much give. I would have preferred if they were made from a harder material.
It's still nice that they give you that option though.

I need black and new version for sure. I have earlier M3 DS and I can't see black numbers on silver lens if it is dark.

What I find interesting about this lens in the marketplace is the confirmation of the good idea to somehow make a decent fun lens at reasonable price point. There was no doubt in my mind when it was released that in order to have a chance at making the price and still make money it would be necessary to make a very large quantity. I predict these lenses will around for a bit.

Raid, compared to the CV 1.1/50, the 7A is more compact and a lot cheaper. 😉

Snowbuzz, this special background blur only happens when the lens is used wide open and if the background consists of small, at least partly linear elements such as grass, twigs and leaves etc. If you stop down the lens a little, it is gone.

My like new 35 1.4 AIS is crazy glowy wide open, much more so than the 7A.
It, like the 7A, does completely change the moment you stop it down.

The Nikon, of course, is three times the price - $1100 - and still available at B&H

The thing is, I like the glow at 1.4 (and 1.1 with the 7A). As long as you know how a lens behaves, you can use that for your creative advantage.

To answer my own question...the latest version works perfectly on my Wetzlar M4. Just shot a roll and sent it off to Texas...don’t have a digital camera at the moment. I’m kind of shocked at how solid-feeling it is—a really well made lens.

Kent, do you have any photos of it on your A7ii, and can you talk about how it feels/balances there? What’s your focusing method?

I bought a copy, the lens came with infinity off on my M3 and M6 (both serviced by DAG). I made adjustment, fair easy following the instruction. Then I used a ground glass to check the focus at 0.7m on my M6 both the rangefinder and ground glass agreed. I loaded a Tamx 100 tried some shoots at 0.7m and random distance. Here is the one at 0.7m. I find the depth of focus is paper thin a EVF type M mount mirror-less will be a better choice then the mechanic RF. I have lots of out of focus photos due to object movement. So far, the lens is excellent for the asking price.

I have quite a few excellent 50mm lenses, which include the Summicron DR and Rigid. The Hexanon 50/2.4 is very sharp, and very beautiful.
The Canon RF lenses are fine too. I have the 50/1.2-1.4-1.5-1.8.
The Nikon 5cm 2.0 is a fine lens.
I have several J-3 and Zeiss 5cm/1.5 lenses in ltm mount. These are great lenses overall. This includes a ZK lens and a 1938 Sonnar Zeiss lens. The latter is one of my favorite 50m lenses.
Brian Sweeney also adapter several lenses for me. Thank you Brian. Some may be one of a kind. I have a Luxon 50/2 ltm (for the Paxette).

I bought from Paul a Pentax-M 50/1.4 converted by Roland to M mount with full RF. Awesome lens overall.

The Nikon Millenium 50/1.4. It is a very good lens too. Some compare it to the Summilux.

I also have the CV 5-/1.5 and 50/1.1. Both are wonderful lenses.

The 7artisans 50/1.1 is a very good lens.

After having a great handling, close focusing Tamron 135mm f2.5 with poor Image quality, I now require the full set, E.g. Good Image quality.
