I've become so anal about this whole thing. I suppose one of the reasons I like photography (besides shooting and working toward better images), so much is because every issue can be researched to death. In any event, after months of agonizing I purchased my new bag. It's an M-classic. I was a little apprehensive to spend 200.00 on a bag, but find it's a great tool. The bag is well designed, heavy duty and looks great. There is pleanty of room for 2 bodies/lenses in the main comaparment. I was able to stack 2 lenses (the 90 and 45) on top of ea other in one of the 3 side pockets. The other 2 pocke
ts can be used for film, about 6 rolls in ea one. There is even more room at the bottom of main compartment for flat items like filters and other accessories. In terms of closures the bag offers a large flap secured by two buttons, a buckle in between the buttons (brass hardware) and plenty of velcro as well. The bag is easily un/buckled with one hand and the large flap stays in place due to the velcro when the buckle and buttons are undone. The items in the bag are quickly accessible and placed back into the bag by feel. The bag is worn on the side with the strap across the chest. The contents' weight is nicely distributed. I was able to carry my one G2 body plus my 4 lenses (not that I used them all) for several hours in great comfort. My only gripe is that ends of the bag are not sealed and it is possible for the elements to introduce some foreign substance into the bag. That being said, the bag really is designed for street type shooting so that issue is of minimal importance. I've read the bag's design comes from an old Leica bag that was sold many years ago. Don't know much about that. In any event, I love the bag and it is wonderfully suited to what it's designed for. If any G users are seeking a speed/street bag take a look. It's a nice alternative to Billingham/Fogg.

I have the M-Classic too. I keep the M3 in it, on the ready. I have been using a Lowpro with the G2 kit. I like the flatness of the M-Classic. No one knows what you have, documents, books, laptop. Then you pull out a classic rangefinder camera, quite cool.

Hmm...personally I started with a domke that I really like, but then I had the opportunity to get the Contax G system bag, at a price I could not refuse. Since having it the domke does not get much use with the G system, I still use it for other gear. The contax bag has a spot for everything and it so well made and comfortable that I dont think I will be needing another bag for a long time. Im sure the Leica bag is nice as well, it would just really stand out on me...

I tried looking for the Contax bag and could only find the large case-type. The M classic was kind of expensive, but it's really well done so I'm happy.

If you own a G camera with 3 or 4 lenses, the big problem with most bags is that you have to stack some lenses on top of others, making them a pain to get at. My Tamrac System 2 bag (model 5602) has solved this problem nicely -- ever since I persuaded my wife to stitch together a four-part divider for my lenses, which fits snugly in the bag alongside the G2 body sitting on edge. Everything is now easily accessible. The bag is light (and black), has a very comfortable shoulder strap, and cost me under 40 bucks!

hasn't been a problem for me yet. I normally carry a 45/90 combo. My new 21 fits in the main compartment in it's box. I'm using the 28 less and less. I did stack lenses just to try the bag, but it hasn't really been an issue so far.
