new CLE fan

My CLE has arrived yesterday, I'm so happy! 😀
My first impression just after I unwrapped it was: My, that's so little! And light! Compared to my M6TTL, the little CLE is about 15-20% smaller! Good thing as I plan to use it as my everyday camera.
My currently setup includes a Nokton 40mm f1.4 which I learnt to love lately.
The only thing which bugs me is the LH5 hood which being noticeably larger than the lens itself partially obscures the light-in window, preventing the light to fully illuminate the RF patch which is kind of dim in the lower part. Does anybody else have the same problem? Apart from that, this combo looks just perfect!

I run mine without hood.

Is your Nokton single or double coated?

I ask, because if it's double coated, you'll probably not need the hood most of the time.

It is indeed single coated.
I shot some 4-5 rolls last weekend without using the hood. Will see if flare is a problem.

If it really bothers you, you can file the hood down or else get a different hood. I have no personal experience on this because I do not own a Nokton...

I haven't shot much on my Nokton 40/1.4 SC (which I've just recently sold), but I've never really had any issues with it flaring under normal working conditions.

But I shot not less than 2 hundred photographs in India with my Nokton f1.4 without hood and, in spite of the scorching sun, I couldn't notice any flare at all. By the way, I own two CLE bodies and I take both on my trips in order to shoot 50 and 400 ISO. Just three lenses (Ultron f/2 and TeleElmarit M 90mm f/2.8, plus the Nokton of course), a few filters and the tiny CLE electronic flash. All my gear can be stuffed into a small unobtrusive bag.

Yes! That's what I like about my new CLE, the compactness!
AE and self timer are a very nice plus.
Btw, nice to know there are other CLE owners in Rome, if you meet me in the street with the CLE hanging from my neck say hi 🙂

PS: I got my first CLE new in 1982, and it's been a fond favorite ever since. Lovely little camera!

It does not block the RF window, but the light collecting window, resulting in a dim RF patch, at least in the lower half of the patch.
Sad, because I also looked for a LH-5 hood to complement my 40mm, and now that I finally found it I can't actually use it 🙁
