Connecticut New England RFF Summer Meet?

I just got this email from OSV:

Ray:

Old Sturbridge Village does accept photography groups to come
into the Village, and we have have gotten some great feedback on
how much the groups loved coming!

The Village offers group admission to groups of 15 or more. If your
group is going to be smaller than 15, still give me a call and I can
work a discount for you.

I look forward to hearing from you and creating a program for your
group.

Thank you,
Pam

OK, for wanting to make a decision, lets book the 5th or 6th. I suggest we plan on being at the village early as most of the demonstrations/workshops operate before noon. Booking as a group sounds like a great idea Ray, I wonder if we will gain access to any normally restricted areas?

Ray is corresponding with the folks at OSV. We need a head count for them to negotiate a discounted rate and whatever else the group package includes.

Count in family members too if they will be joining you. Post your number here.

I have 2 or 3.

Not really. I have one kid in Fiji for two years and one kid in Europe for the summer. So no kids (and I really like my kids). OTOH my wife has no interest in cameras or photography. Now that's lucky... ;)

That is the explaination of my 2 or 3.

A good morning bump. We will keep planning this as things get closer but would like to get as much interest up front. No new info from OSV yesterday.

Looks like there's going to be a lot to shoot that weekend. I got this email today. Here's the update:

Ray:

The weekend of August 5th and 6th should provide exciting photo opportunities because is Redcoats to Rebels at Old Sturbridge Village.

During this weekend the Village focus on 300 years of military history and we have invited over 600 renactors to camp in the Village for Saturday and Sunday. There will be fashion shows and war renactments for the everyone. The day will be packed with activities as each regiment shows their talent. There will also be a parade both days.

On Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 the Village will be open for Twilight Tours. This program includes a light fare and a chance to drink and mingle with the troops. There is an extra fee for this program.

I am not sure that I would need to add on an extra program for this weekend. There are so many events and colorful acts going on throughout those days. I can still give you a group discount which is $15 per person, compared to the regular $20 adult admission price. The only stipulation is that the tickets are paid for all at once.

Please let me know if this sounds like it will work for your group. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you,
Pam

Regarding the admission price - the price quoted was for adults. If I am not mistaken, it is only about $5 for children.

This will be a good time.

I mentioned in an email to Ray, the normal admission includes a second day within 7 days of the first. I am close enough that I have used this benefit a couple times, so if you wish or are traveling in to see the place, you get two admissions for the price of one.

The days are passing very quickly. Should we firm this up for Sat, Aug 5th?

Yes, I was going to bump this too.

Lets plan on 8/5 Saturday and keep Sunday 8/6 as a rain date.

Even if we don't get 15 for a group rate, it is only a $5 discount so.....

It will be a good time.

It looks like Peter is in, anyone else?

I'll be there. Anyone want to suggest a time?

I've never been there, Rover. Do you think it would be worth pursuing the angle of getting some kind of photo-related itinerary of tour or would we be better off just going around on our own? Since many of us will have family along, we may be better off leaving the day unstructured. Besides, our idea of subject may be different from what they had in mind (and among ourselves even!)

What does everyone else think?
