New fibre-based papers announced by Ilford

Ilford that makes digital paper and Ilford that makes darkroom paper are separate entities.

I got to see the new Cooltone darkroom paper yesterday and it looks great!

Strange that they call the new paper 'Classic', which to me would imply it is the older version in a lineup that features a new product. (Like the ill-fated 'Coke Classic'.)

But clearly the Classic paper really is a new product.

Excellent news. Great to see film going from strength to strength. Combined with the recent Kodak Alaris announcement and other developments this has been a good year for film, sales of which continue to rise!

Cooltone is great for mechanical (non-organic) still-life and minimalistic landscapes.

Yay for Ilford! Hope they will come up with the RC version of this.

You still think ALARIS is something more than a smoke screen to cover the fact that once the Kodak warehouses around the globe are emptied of all unsold film, there will be new film produced in Rochester...for consumer market ?

Ilford has had an RC Cooltone for years - I use quite a bit of it. Remains to be seen how close the emulsions are between the RC Cooltone and the FB Cooltone. In both of the existing pairs - MG IV and MG Warmtone - the RC emulsion is quite different from the FB.

The Online Darkroom

Beautiful web site ---- terrific photographs.

Kudos!

My family on my Dad's side came from Scotland. Have a pic of my great grand father from a bicycle race in the 1800's. I believe it was held in Aberdeen.

Our son is spending this week in Scotland. He works for GE energy out of Houston Texas.

Have a nice holiday season.

I think you are trollling....

Kodak Alaris is a profitable company with a profitable product line.

I will send you $ 100.00 when you post an image of a film box (TRI-X) stating it is produced by Alaris and available freely in Europe...
I have asked two reliable sources of film (Film Emporium in New York and Maco in Hamburg)about recieving new stock from Alaris..
Both say NO and also that they don`t know anything about when it will be availabe. They both say they live day by day with the availability of the old stock.
At present the only product that is labeled ALARIS is the photo paper made in England. It is not film...
SO... ??
The only sure thing in this game is that Alaris teamed up with those guys famous with liquidating old stocks of film with outrageous prices...

I'm still not clear, and apologies for OT, about Alaris. There is KODAK ALARIS INC. in 2400 MOUNT READ BOULEVARD , ROCHESTER, NY, 14650
but in the UK where I understood they were trading/based /HQ we still have Kodak Limited Hemel One Boundary Way Hemel Hempstead Company Registration No: 59535 London.

That would be expected though wouldn't it Alaris have been around for what three months? The Kodak coating schedule isn't that responsive and full at the moment, I'm guessing they will coat when stocks are low rather than just to appease the fudmongers who think they will never ship another roll.

From people I know are suggesting I'd say you'll certainly lose your $100 bet, when stocks run low they will re coat and for all we know that may be soon.

But lets not thread cr@p this is about Ilford not Kodak using it to spread your usual fear and doubt about the future is wrong.
