New firmware killing a few cameras

We hear these reports every time a new firmware update comesout, and it always is the results of not following instructions provided. I have not had a single problem when i have upgraded my M8.

I'm afraid I'm the one who started the thread on the Leica forum. My M8 needs to go back to Leica as it is dead as a door nail after "upgrading" the firmware. It is a real problem for real people.
Does this make me unreal?

My battery was not low (but it was not fresh) when I started the update. The M8 flashed a notice that the battery was too low to proceed with the update. I put in a new battery and all went well. This shows that the M8 is checking the power before it begins...which is a good sign.

I followed the instructions to the letter as best I can recall. After installing the firmware, the screen instructed to turn the camera "off" then back "on". When I did this the red light came on and stays on, even when the camera is shut off, and it is dead, nada.....

Does the light stay on when you remove the battery? :)
