We hear these reports every time a new firmware update comesout, and it always is the results of not following instructions provided. I have not had a single problem when i have upgraded my M8.

Does this make me unreal? :angel:gurtch said:I'm afraid I'm the one who started the thread on the Leica forum. My M8 needs to go back to Leica as it is dead as a door nail after "upgrading" the firmware. It is a real problem for real people.

My battery was not low (but it was not fresh) when I started the update. The M8 flashed a notice that the battery was too low to proceed with the update. I put in a new battery and all went well. This shows that the M8 is checking the power before it begins...which is a good sign.

It is a real problem for real people. I followed the instructions to the letter as best I can recall. After installing the firmware, the screen instructed to turn the camera "off" then back "on". When I did this the red light came on and stays on, even when the camera is shut off, and it is dead, nada.....![]()

Does the light stay on when you remove the battery?
