new grip, old feeling!

i know this isn't nearly as exciting as math class but i had forgotten just how nice using a grip on my camera is!
i just got an 'ishoot' grip for the x-e1 and i am really liking it!
so much easier to pick up the camera, pull it out of the bag and just carry in general.
i have a fuji case on the way, as well, and i'm looking forward to comparing the feel of the two against one another.

awhile back, i picked up a cheap fake leather case for the x100 and using only the base (half-case), it feels so nice in the hand.

any other case comments?

I have one all the time on my x-e1. With it, the camera handles better, it's more protected, and has the L-bracket for vertical shots.

Hmmm. I'm wondering if you also use a Thumbs Up or similar device with your grip. I have one, but was thinking just yesterday that a grip such as yours might really make it solid on my X-Pro1, especially when I hold the camera up high to shoot over the crowd.

The other consideration is whether to buy the Chinese grip now or hold off and wait for the new, improved Fuji grip. I don't know when it might become available or what it might cost.

I have a Lensmate thumb grip and a Fuji OEM as well as an iShoot grip for my X-Pro1. I like the thumb grip. The hand grips are nice for carrying around, but when it comes time to shoot I find that they change the ergonomics too much that it's uncomfortable. But holding the camera in hand by my side, the thumb and hand grip make the camera feel very secure. I think it might just be my small hands. 😱

i use the lensmate thumb rest…the 2 together make a large difference/improvement in handling and the weight doesn't really increase all that much.
i put the camera strap between my index and middle finger and that keeps my finger at the ready/close to the shutter release so no detriment to handling.

According to the phoblographer they're 150 USD for the X-pro version and 130 for the XE version, that's 40 USD more expensive than the first version. Pricey.

i piad $70. for the chinese grip…the delivery time was dreadful but the grip itself seems flawless.

Yes, it is. I might as well wait a bit and see what it looks like and how it compares to the Chinese version (back alley and others like theirs).
