Is the new Heliar different from the ltm Heliar optically?

I assume that the optical design of all versions of the lens is the same, but I don't keep track of design details at that level. I have two, the Nikon version (which I think I got on sale at a close-out price) and the Nickel plated LTM version that I shouldn't have bought, but couldn't help myself. :}

The more I use this lens the more I like it. To think that for years I thought that a fast 50mm was the best only at this late stage in my photography journey to find such joy with a f3.5 50mm lens.

I agree. I love a fast lens for sure but I get huge pleasure from working with these slower 50s. In fact, my old 1935 Leitz Elmar is one of my favorite lenses and this Heliar in collapsible LTM form is not far behind.

Colker, yes, this lens is capable of doing landscape, but I think it can do so much more than just that.

Just picked up one of these in Nikon S mount for the ridiculously low price of $299 from the head bartender. It performs quite sweetly on my Nikon Z6 with Amedeo/Leica M adapter. Looking forward to trying it with my Nikon S2.

He still has some left at that price:
