New Leica from ebay! will Leica void the warranty

I'm looking to buy new Leica (M-P 240 or M 262) From seller in HK. Their Prices are good for new Leica. he has 100% Feedback "over 6000!". however, i'm sure he is not authorized re-seller. will Leica void the warranty or honor it with the invoice from the seller?

Just want to know before I pull the trigger on it.

seller has a great feedback. closest leica dealer is in Dubai (Price difference is around $2000+ on the m-p 240!) and $1000+ on the 262

Make sure to take all precautions when you send payment.

The seller may have great feedback. But, there are too many variables involved in terms of the camera you paid for and the one you receive. If, and that's a big if, you receive the camera you paid for and it is new, and not used, if it's not stolen, and it works as it should you might be close to getting what you want for a good price. It's a gamble you may or may not be willing to take. There is one variable you can eliminate; Contact Leica and see if the seller is an authorized reseller. If not and you need something repaired on that camera you probably just lost the money you saved on the purchase.
This is not a negative review of ebay or Hong Kong sellers...just a warning to be careful.

Check with Leica about the warranty. Sometimes goods are country specific, or the if camera is in need of service it may have to be dealt with by a dealer in country of sale. Quick email to them should let you know.

the real issue is not the warranty, but having great dealer support

all kinds of things can go wrong in transit
or right out of the box
or during the warranty period

for that kind of investment its foolish not dealing with a dealer you KNOW will have your back.

Agreed but the key thing is to use a great dealer like Tony.
I made the mistake of buying my Leica M-E from Samys Camera in LA and when it failed only a few months into the warranty they did NOT have my back.

Having a legit seller selling you the right goods is one thing... bringing a camera to your local Leica service center and having them honor the warranty is another thing. Normally gray dealers in HK require you to send it back to them - and I'm not too sure if they will repair or replace it, or just send it back to you. So that's the risk you carry for the savings.

I've bought used Leica Ms well past warranty and I've had success in getting Leica changing the registered name of the product to mine (with purchase receipt). What that gets me is Lightroom serial (which I don't need) but at least an email if there's a recall etc.
