Hello

I am planning to design a new grip for the Leica M (modern digital models 240, 246, 262), inspired in the Classic Linhoff Technika Grip, but I am not the owner of one of them.

Here a first sketch of the design.

That is the reason I am asking for help to the lucky owners, who can have some time to take a couple of measurements of the bottom plate, and screw position.

I know that in the first Digital Leicas as the M8, the screw is mounted in the bottom plate, but in modern models it was moved to the body of the camera. Anyway I am not aware if the position of the screw was kept in the same place for all digital models (old and new) or not.

Here in this image, the needed measurements from letter a to f.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you all so much for your help, and opinions on the design!
I will post the work in progress here soon.

Nice, Ernesto. Can I suggest that you do not put it on the baseplate, but make the grip replace the baseplate ? Like my RRS grip ...

but I like your design better.

Cool project! I'd like to back it up with my findings, measured with a calliper on an Leica M-D baseplate:

a = 138.68 mm
b = 36.73 mm

Measurements c, d, e and f cannot be measured accurately, due to you're asking us to measure a floating point of reference (middle of the hole, point no. 31 in your drawing). I can inform you that the hole in the baseplate has a diameter of:

base_hole = ø12.7 mm

If I redefine measurements c, d, e and f, to be measured from the edge of base_hole to the edge of the baseplate, then I get:

c_edge = 12.07 mm
d_edge = 12.07mm
e_edge = 72.48 mm
f_edge = 53.55 mm

The above measurements are estimates, due to measuring handheld. Take radius of base_hole (6.35 mm) and add them to the above measurements and you get:

c = 18.42 mm
d = 18.42 mm
e = 78.83 mm
f = 59.9 mm

...and now I've scratched my baseplate 😀
