New look for RFF

Er...other than the Mac-like interface (guess which computer platform I like most?), the "new look", IMO, absolutely blows. Looks too much like a million other look-alike sites, whereas the current layout manages to be unique and logical and easy on the eyes. Know how few sites manage to pull that off, regardless of how much money they have to throw at it?

Unless there's some other compelling reason (say, fiscally related) to switch, I vote to keep RFf as it is. (Hell, I even preferred the mostly-greyscale banner, although I could live with the new color version.)

Hey, where did the "Today's Posts" on the main screen go?

Any chance of getting that back? Or at least letting me know where it moved to? I used that a lot. Thanks.
You can book mark the "New Posts" as follows:

As for changing the site design... You guys are more conservative than my cats, If I so much as move a couch I can expect poo in my shoe for weeks. 🙂

I do like the way RFF looks pt, but there is also something very nice and appealing about the alternative. Dark grey IS good for picture background, though ...

I love it and I really hail your continuing attempts to improve this wonderful site. That's a key reason for its continued success.

I'm afraid I can't disagree more. I much preferred RFF before the changes, (new classified section, 2-tiered membership, limit of 20 PMs in mailbox) but that's well documented and I don't want to beat a dead horse.

do you want the right side back? I thought it was too much clutter but I can put it back.

Also, I cant believe you guys dont want rff to look like dslrx 🙁

Seems odd the forums list on the right side has been dropped, I mean this site is about forums and now we have to go digging to get to them?

Jorge,
2 columns is better than 3 - less clutter IMO
Believe it, that we don't want RFF to look like DSLRX! You got 3 pages of negative responses when you asked.

I like the look now of DSLRx. I certainly would like it if this site looked more like the Mac interface.

Good job, Jorge!

Then again, we all have opinions, and it doesn't seem we lack much in the way of restraint when it comes to expressing 'em.

🙂

Our opinions were requested.

Since you are in modification mode, Jorge, it may be a good time to rethink the forums listed. Much duplication and unnecessary divisions. (free advice)

BTW, are you contemplating a sale of RFF?

After finally getting around to reading this entire thread, my feedback is "No!", don't change the look so drastically. The new 'front' page, with the forum list on the left, is a definite improvement. I tend to agree with Frank about the classifieds, though. Making them seem so business-like also makes the transactions more of a business rather than a deal between considerate individuals. I do like the 'Featured' items from businesses like Tony Rose, but far too many of the members' items are sold (and should be deleted).
