WOW just a very big WOW.
Fascinating company, if you see their plans.
Wonder how softly it will perform wide open.

My thoughts exactly. I will have to keep an eye out for this one.

muy interesante...

they started out making some neat leica eyepiece magnifiers and minifiers, afaik, and now they're apparently filling the gap left by kobalux/avenon.

A Collapsible Lens! IN S-MOUNT! Faster than F2!

There has not been a collapsible lens in S-Mount since 1950. Nikon quit making collapsible LTM lenses at about the same time. The fastest collapsible that I can think of is the Canon 50/1.9.

This is a bold move, and they must either have great confidence in their materials and machining, or the lens will be pretty poor over time. Of course polycarbonate based lens mounts suffer far worse wear.

Fascinating little lens.

I think both Cosina and Nikon itself have found out there isn't a sustainable market for new Nikon rangefinder cameras or lenses. The user-base is just too tiny compared to Leica.

On the other hand, I wasn't very impressed with Cosina's (discontinued) lens offerings in Nikon-S mount. They didn't offer anything that was faster or more useable than 50-year-old Nikkors. If they'd put out a few 28 f/1.9s or 35 f/1.2s in S-mount, that would have been interesting. Intead, CV at best duplicated what was already available, and not many sold. The CVs are good/great lenses, but Nikon users already have fantastic and afffordable Nikkors in the 28 f/3.5; 35 f/2.5; 50 f/1.4 and 85 f/2 (almost two-stops faster than the CV lens). And 21mm f/4.5 Zeiss Biogons have been out there a long time for those wanting that focal length.

A company that produces new faster lenses might get a few people's attention.

Vince, actually there is ONE 35/1.2 in Nikon S mount, owned by Tom Abrahamson, it was a personal gift from Mr. K. It's mentioned in excellent's Tom review of 2005, the RF year that was 🙂

I find it great that there are some people running companies out there who are willing to do things like this lens. At first I thought they offered it in a lens mount that you could change yourself, but if two different prices are mentioned probably it comes that way out from the factory.

Did I miss that? Is that in the description? Babelfish or myself may have missed it.
That aspect sounds not that fascinating!
Did these people build lenses that can verify their ability for quality optics?

Wow, they appear to have some fascinating products at their homepage! One of the few things i can read is that the do not sell or ship outside Japan though. A thought crosses my mind... Is someone in Japan willing to be an RFF agent, ie buy and ship photo stuff to the rest of the world for a small fee? Or are there other ways into the japanese market besides an airline ticket?

Bablefish has done it's usual job 🙄 but didn't see anything about it being collapsable either. But the diagram is very interesting and I'd dearly love to try one in LTM on my Canon. But with only 50 being made and no $750 to spare 🙁 I doubt I'll ever even see one much less use one.

Thanks for the link.
Maybe Dr. Joseph Yao in Hong Kong will take on the job of middleman. He does a pretty good job with CV equipment & grey market Leica

Dr Yao may not be able to help due to the very limited production. Interesting to see if anything further comes of this. Think of it, in this day of digital imaging new players, Cosina, and Rollei (briefly) and Zeiss have entered the RF market. The strength of this movement is that they are all selling options to the same system, the Leica M system (via adaptors in some cases). As a group the manufactures may be able to create enough critical mass to support the niche of a manual film imaging system.

I went for a walk on the beach trying to alleviate the migraine which woke me up this morning and all I could think of was this damn lens. How can he even begin to recover his costs producing only 50 units? Maybe a rich man indulging himself?
I think this one lens just blew the whole PMA show out of the water--for me, anyway.
