Hi everyone.
My name is Dave Chadwick and i'm new to Rangefinders after several years in the SLR doldrums and hope it will improve my photography (and there is plenty of room for that).
I read a copy of AP which was dedicated to 50 years of the leica M with articles from the likes of Roger Hicks and company, so I decided to treat my self to an M7+35mm f1.4 summilux (after consulting the wife of course).
I hope to put some photos up soon if I can work it out.
ps. I also need to learn to type after 1 hour and 1 sore finger later.
Yours gratefully Dave.

HI Dave!
Do you have a flash mounted? I've never had that happen to me and if memory serves me correctly, the only thing that the symbol does is to tell you that the flash is charged. I don't have the camera or instruction manual with me now, but I can check later

50 Summilux is da DEVIL!
Welcome newbies! You'll find this to be a great forum. Do not know about M7 problem but it is probably not a "problem" anyway. Maybe just a loose nut behind the viewfinder.
The 35 Summilux is one of my favorites. Enjoy and please post as soon as possible.

Dave the are a couple of flashing "bolt" symbol explanations in the M7 manual pp 111-112. Flash unit not operational yet, flash exposure correct and flash remains operational. Kind of confusing because they're almost opposite conditions but thats what it says.
Welcome to the forum, BTW!

Hi Dave and Pete! Welcome to the club. I must say that Dave is a brave man. I never told my wife about my purchase till she found out herself!

I contacted the sevice manager at leica UK and he said the problem was new to him.
Because there was no flash attached to the camera at the time the symbol is not supposed to appear at all, so I sent it back to leica and it will take up to four weeks to fix.
