Hehehe, the most important ingredient is ... the chicken. You must use a home grown one, with lots of nice, full of coleterol, yellow fat. Use a chicken as in the "female" not the "male" .....
Then its easy. Just cut it to pieces. Loose the excess of skin and fat. Just enough to get flavour.
Mince 1/2 a oninon to the pan, 1 glove of garlic, add some butter and olive oil. Let it get white and add the pieces of chicken. Let the chicken get a litle brow and add hot water. Let it cook until the meat get off the bones, or almost. Then add some rice and let cook. Dont forget to add salt 😀.

Its not gourmet, but this is how my mother teach me and i love it 🙂.

This thread raises interesting questions about what constitutes a community. My own view is that photographers as a group are oddly preoccupied with their equipment, compared with other artists. I wonder if this is related to the male/female ratio suggested by the recent poll here. It's hard to imagine a painter getting into an argument (or even a discussion) about what kind of brush or canvas or clay is the best kind to use. But photography does occupy an odd intersection of technology and the visual arts and there it will stay.

An excellent assessment. Photography always has been equipment-driven. To the best of my knowledge there have never been magazines for painters with in-depth articles on a newly-released type of paint or brush.

I'll be the first to admit that my interest in photography is driven by the love of precision, mechanical things. I do shoot some photographs but for the most part the pictures I make could be made with just about a well-made camera and you would have to really know your stuff to tell whether they were made with a Leica or a Yashica 35.

One of the interesting differences between film and digital photography is that people using digital cameras (for the most part) seem to take the camera for granted. Maybe that's because models come and go so quickly and most folks take it for granted that their cameras aren't going to be in the landfill in a few years and certainly will never have "classic" status.

I think that's typical of point and shoot users in general, Wayne. It doesn't matter if they are using film or memory cards. 😉 The popularity of disposable cameras surprises me. Who would throw away a lens?

Really?? I must have found all the hard to find painters when I was in college, and even dated one, because some would get into some discussions about which brand was a waste of money versus what other brand was riding its own fame, the care of the bristles, the ethics of using horsehair versus synthetic bristles and whether any of that really mattered in their end result of a painting, etc. etc. etc. And not to mention about the different canvases, whether curing your own, or getting some pre-made, because of the costs and labor involved; whether using a certain kind of clay was really cheating or whether just priming the canvas with black acrylic paint blah blah blah

Hard to imagine a painter getting into an argument about things like that.

As another newbie and a rather unknown to the forum, I'll try to take a stab at making some comments. I participate on a Backpacking forum and again it is made up of a core of individuals that make the majority of postings, and it is always growing. That forum is not as visually attractive or as well done by the way. On that forum we have a forum for Gear Deals and another for Gear Swap. Gear Deals generally refer to items that are available from outside the community including sales, items posted on eBay, etc. The Gear Swap forum on the other hand normally is for items that are for sale (light weight backpackers are always trying to find lighter and better gear and are constantly updating equipment [sounds a bit like some photographers I have known]) or wanted to buy.

Perhaps, here on Rangefinder Forum we could break up the Clasified sections so that there would be a section For Sale and another Want to Buy. There could be sub cateories under the 35 mm and the medium format. But they should also allow for other gear be they large format, meters, tripods, flash units, etc. Perhaps these items could be put in a Miscellaneous category.

Obviously if people are recognized by name, avatar, postings and the number of postings people will be more receptive to sale or purchase from those individuals. Generally the back packing forum that I mentioned does not normally have gear that sells for anywhere near what much of the photo gear that many of us use, and to my knowledge, no one has had a problem or gotten "burned". With such expensive gear that many of us use as photographers, this is always a concern when purchasing a piece of used equipment. Here is where the closeness of the community becomes so important. Because, if it is known or becomes known that someone is taking unfair advantage of another member, this will become a matter of record that will be posted somewhere on the forum alerting others to avoid purchasing from the offender. Hopefully this will never happen and this proves to be a useful venue for buyer and seller.

As to stores or people that are constantly selling and buying as if they were on eBay or a storefront, then there is no question in my mind that something be set up for those people and Jorge and/or Rangefinder Forum should receive a portion of the sale price.

As to Paypal, even though it is an eBay company, they may not need to sponsor Rangefinder Forum. As far as I know, anyone can use Paypal as long as they have an e-mail address and set-up a Paypal Account. I believe, but am not sure however that the seller would need to have the proper type of Paypal Account. Those of us that accept credit card sales for our businesses of course would not need such an account.

I hope that some of these thoughts prove of some value.

.

Hey, this thread is really a DYNAMIC one !! 😀 😀

Starting with fake members who sell crap or do not send the payed stuff , then visiting certain backyards, going to Gin with garlic and soup made from really fat homegrown lady-chicken (!!) now we have arrived at the always interesting painter vs photog comparison ! Holy sh*t, what a ride !! 😀 😀 😀

Very entertaining tho. Let me add that photography has been equipment driven indeed, but only for amateurs. Pros, at least succesful pros do not spent most of their time discussing their tools. They take what they want or need , pay it and and use it. Basta !

The amateurs live in another world, in the world of playin' with toys. Big boys and their high precision toys, a combo that MUST lead to arguments and always LEADS to arguments !! Cars, bikes, knifes, pipes or wines, it does not matter.
And as if it wasn't bad enuff also status and and the "who-knows-all-better" thing are always in the background too and contribute to make discussions more "vivid".

One guy has got no clue but enuff money to buy the best of breed, he says that makes his pics top automatically, one has no money but knowledge and says he does not need to waste money ( he could not even if he wanted too) , one only buys the second best of breed but drives Porsche or BMW and mentions it to explain his limited budget, one collects expensive cameras as a substitute for his poor sexlife, one collects cheap cameras always mentioning he has a attractive wife and does not need tons of expensive stuff in the basement, and one has it all, money, knowledge, Porsche, and Viagra tho ( or because) he is married to a model and tells it everybody all the time..

Oh I forgot , there is another one , he is always supected to have nothing, no money, no top gear , no Porsche , no sexlife, no Viagra, no model, no outstanding knowledge either, simply nothing he could defend himself with !

That's the idiot who always wants to talk about photos and how to take them ! 😀
Aarrgh, what a stupid. He hasn't understood at all what amateur photography is ?
A dreamer ! 🙄 One of those simple minded who think they can change anything by voting !! Or that judges care for justice !? :bang:

Don't get me wrong folks, there is nothing bad with toys , ( I love my cameras) as long as the "boys" realize what it's all about and keep the discussions civilized while playing in the Kindergarten. And as long as they do not forget to shoot from time to time !! No ,not "testphotos", i mean that stuff that rocks !" 😀 😀

Bertram

Ahh, here we are !! Didn't I say it !?? 😀 😀 😀
You USED to have it ? In my poor understanding of the English language that means "in former times " ? Doesn't count !
I mean in former times we ALL had a lot of nice things, less weight, more muscles, unreasonable expensive cars, two girlfriends at the same time, sandy sex at the beaches, a good job. And some of us surely had really big ... zooms too , no question.
But nowadays ? 🙄

Hope you are doing better, best wishes

Wel, if we are talking big zooms and being "boys", here is the beaver that I bagged with my Big 500mm.

Wet and Wild!

No beaver... how about an otter? 400mm.

Nice Otter!

These beaver were not from the backyard; but some friends up the street had some dam problems with beavers.

ANYWAY! We have seen RFF grow from a few members to over 2000 in under two years. It is an active and supportive community. We have had members undertake repairs for others, supply gear, sell at way below market rates, etc. Most of the stuff for sale is to keep members in spending money, or occasionally to appease the wife/girlfriend. If a woman was told by her husband/boyfriend to sale their rangefinder someone here would probably want to beat him up.
