Unfortunately ... yes. Since he can`t contibute to his own thread about the Noctilux anymore, I started a new one.
Did he get banned?
Sadly, I can't afford a Noctilux but wish to shoot with one properly some day to see what it's like in real life. I've only ever held one for a moment at it was big but okay for my tastes.

Getting used to this lens needs some time, especially the long focus travel. On the other hand, the long focus travel allows for more precise focusing than with a Summilux 50mm pre-ASPH (at f/1.4 and close distance)

Nice pics, Gabor.
Also note that the last pre-asph Summilux 50 has _less_ DOF at closest distance than the Noctilux.
Best,
Roland.

how does that work? 0,7m vs 1m? at f1.4 for both or at the widest of every lens?

who else got banned? Was this due to aggressive comments about something as trivial as a Nocti or M8?

Yep. On 35mm film:
50/1.0 at 100cm wide open: DOF = 2.28cm
50/1.4 at 70cm wide open: DOF = 1.54cm
A simple 90/2 is harder to focus than both:
90/2 at 100cm wide open: DOF = 1.35cm.
The real RF challenge is the 70 Lux:
75/1.4 at 70cm wide open: DOF = 0.66cm (!)
Roland.

Roland, thank you ! I think that 1m closest focusing distance is OK for f/1.0. Closer would be very challenging ...
Steve, I like the colors in your photo, too !! That film rocks
bankcheck, Belle, Thanks for posting !!
Semrich, like the composition and contrast in your bike photo a lot.

thanks for such valuable info. is it taken from DOF master? a lot worth to think about, I think.
I remember how much I was challenged to focus with Rd1 and 90mm 2.8. Lol
