I'm really enjoying this old Prominent F1.5 Nokton I picked up. Shooting it wide open mostly. It reminds me of a Sonnar, with better bokeh. Quite sharp, even wide open.

Thanks. It can be slightly soft, which is good for a lens sometimes. Much less soft than the Nikkor 50/1.4 wide open though. I took this image of the camera it came off of. All on a Fuji XE-1.

Original 1950's Nokton is great. I am slowly looking for an adapter to use it on Contax cameras, because, as much as I like Prominents, they are heavy and larger than Contax IIa. Once, before I knew any better, I sold 50/1.5 Nokton in Contax mount. now I am trying to replicate it.

Yeah, the high cost of adapters always kept me from getting one. But this one appeared at a local sale, pretty cheap, so I got it. I have made an adapter out of a Leica Nooky close up adapter for a 50mm Elmar. I used a couple of rubber o-rings to make the Nokton center in the adapter, and then taped it in place. A piece of inner tube and a zip tie or two might also work. It's not pretty, and it won't come in enough for infinity, but you can see the results above.

I'm a little surprised you can now buy a 50mm F1.1 lens from China for about $370, but you cannot get a good Prominent-to-LTM focusing adapter for less than $300. Two rings of metal, with no glass in them......

Amedeo made me a custom adapter for Contax. I LOVE the lens. It is on my M8 today.

I guess I could go that route. My problem with spending $300 on an adapter is most of my LENSES didn't cost that much. And I have some very good lenses including a Summicron DR, Canon 50/1.4, 1.5, etc. If I get the Nokton Prominent mount working on any reasonable camera for the going rate of adapters, I'll have like $700 in it. That's a lot when I can just go buy a modern M mount one.
One guy had the good quality adapter he isn't using. He offered it to me for about $300, used. Some smart Chinese company needs to make a run of these for a realistic $50-$100 and they'd sell a bunch. UPDATE: I see the Yeenon adapter is that much. Any good?

The seller refers to URTON lens. It is ULTRON. This is not a good sign.

Reading the lot description, I think it due to translation problems. Seem the whole lot description was done by some online translator tool.

A thread today made me dig the old Prominent mount Nokton out of the safe, and duct tape it to my adapter method. I have to say, this is a spectacular lens. Maybe it's worth paying 200 bucks for the adapter.

Once thing I have heard about this lens is it is known for suffering from separation, so check any purchase carefully (I suspect any lens from this era should be checked).

Well, after 2 years of having the original Nokton in the safe, I finally bought an Amedeo adapter, arriving this week. Looking forward to using in on my Leica M.

Congrats on getting (soon) the adapter. The lens is just wonderful overall.So is the Ultron 50/2 for the Prominent, which you can also use with same adapter.

Still waiting, it's understandable shipping from Venezuela is unpredictable. It took a week to get into the system, but is moving now.

It arrived! Fits the Leica M and my Fuji-X adapter fine. Only took 2 years to get this excellent lens going properly (no duct tape this time). At F2 and about F8.
