New Orleans - Just in case it is missed

Interesting that you bring up the London raids, Bill. My great-grandmother spent quite a bit of time in Europe in the late fifties and early sixties. With her Leica. She shot almost exclusively with ektachrome, and my father now has all of her slides. I got to comb over the images for the first time after I picked up my scaps in New Orleans. I noticed that even in the late fifties and early sixties, there was still extensive visual damage from the war. I realized that, while the recovery and rebuilding will take time, (as much as rebuilding the great cities of England and Germany), it will happen. Also, you happen to know if Dookie Chase's is open again, would you? I'm also curious about Liuzza's by the tracks, which has the coldest, freshest Abita on tap iin town, not to mention their b.b.q. shrimp po-boys..

Grant,
Yes it'll be a long haul; that is certain. I'm not sure about Liuzza's or Dookie Chase. Not much water by Liuzza's, so they might be open. I'll try to find out. I've heard that Leah Chase is determined to rebuild, but I don't think they're back yet.

Crewe de Vieux rolled through the Marigny and the Quarter last night. Very irreverant, and very, very funny. Took a roll with my bessa; hopefully they'll come out. I'll post them if they do. It was my first attempt at night photography.

Howdy from Wyoming;

Jeff in NO has plenty of film when I was in correspondence with him this past week, however he could always use some film developer. If anyone wants to do something to help this project they can send Jeff a package of D-76 or X-tol developer. You may contact me off-list for his address. My personal email is: mstoesz@wyoming.com

Regards, Mike

I went to Jacque-Imo's over on W. 72nd or 74th here in NY, but it is nowhere near the same as heading over to Oak next to the Maple. I felt like I was eating at a chain like Chili's. I miss their oyster-bree soup in a puffed pastry, the dripping cornbread muffins, having to walk throught the kitchen to get a table!!!

(snip)...Just speaking personally, it's hard living in New Orleans right now, even in the good parts. There's an overwhelming feeling that the country's forgotten us, or worse that it just doesn't care. Thanks to all of y'all for caring.

Bill
Bill,
Thank you for introducing yourself to the forum; my deepest sympathies remain with you and your fellow residents. There will always be a "Silent Majority" on any issue and I hope I speak for many when I say you may not hear our voice often or loud, but we have not forgotten and we have not stopped caring.

My sincere best wishes,
