Just received a new R3M from Mr Head Bartender! (thanks Stephen) A proud new owner of a R3M and ex-owner of R3A, I must say I like the R3m better than R3a

I'd be curious to know myself. I actually have both, and use the R3A a lot more because of AE.

I just bought an R3A after being very impressed with the R4A I bought and couldn't really think of a reason not to get the A over the M. I don't use the AE on the R4A to be honest but it's nice to know it's there if I want it or get into a situation where I need it! The cameras are so identical aside from the shutter dial that I couldn't see how they could feel different. Perhaps it's just a mental thing ... knowing you can still take photographs if the electricity (in camera) goes out! 😛

I particularly don't like the shutter lock and sometimes the shutter jammed on the R3A. Half of the time, I'm actually forgot to turn the lock off before shooting, some users may find this handy but i found this to be an extra annoying thing. On the R3A in AE mode, the shutter locked up sometimes, I wasn't unable to released the shutter or winded the film at all and yes, the len cap was not on or camera was focus in dark area either. When the film is loaded, the rewind crank of R3M has more resistance, robust and it doesn't feel as loose as the R3A. Beside those points the cameras are pretty much identical and ACE!...oohhh my R3A was a victim of salt water and rusted to the shutter blades, that's why I bought a new r3m
