New RF Camera in the House

So after a bit of horse trading over at Nelsonfoto, I have a nice new interchangeable lens MF rangefinder in hand. Nice 6x9 folder at that. The RF appears to be on & the glass is as pretty as one could hope - a very nice prewar uncoated CZJ 105/3.5 Tessar in a Compur Rapid that sounds as on speed as they ever are  no, really :) Got two other lenses with it - a Wollensak WA Raptar 90/6.8 on the wide end and a 135/4.7 Optar on the long end... (getting the hint? ;) ) The only real problem is that it has a spring back rather than a Graflock back...

Yes, I have added a Miniature Speed Graphic to my collection. Being entirely masochistic about these things, I'm planning on shooting mostly cut film with it. I wanted a press camera that was more compact than my 4x5 Anniversary Speed Graphic, I also wanted the FP shutter in case I found something interesting in barrel mount and an even more important spec, for me, is that it be able to bounce around in the back of my truck while covering the roads of North America. Graflex remains the champion for that set of conditions...

Since it's too late in the day, here's the requisite porn shot with a Guinness rather than coffee. With a bit of luck, I'll have something interesting shot with it in the next few weeks, but in the meantime, I just had the urge to show it off as it's a really nice example of the type.

One unexpected bonus? The 90 & 135 will both cover 4x5 :) This is especially nice in the case of the 90 as on 4x5 that's about smack equivalent FOV to my Canon 28/3.5 on my CL...

Nice camera, William! I almost won a mini Crown Graphic on eBay about a month ago; I'm still looking for one. I was looking at shooting cut film with it as well, so you're not the only one with masochistic tendencies :) Looking forward to seeing the first photos!

Lovely new kit, my compliments.

A kit like this is perfected (cosmetically)
with a big 'ole flash reflector & bulb.

Sorry, just tripping, thanks.

I wouldn't mind the appropriate flash, but mostly I have GE22's right now... A bit... big... shall we say? for 2x3 cameras. :D Since that 90 has a proper PC connection on the shutter, frankly, I'll probably use electronic flash when it's needed with this camera. Now my Anniversary 4x5 is a very different game... ;)

A very nice outfit William.

I had one of these some years back with a 101mm lens and I used it with the 6x9 roll back as well as with 2 1/2 x 3 1/4 inch sheet film - oustanding results. Much of the black liquid shown in the glass next to your camera was also used during those years with fantastic results also!

I have a set of original Kalart range finder calibration instructions....presuming your range finder is a Kalart.... if you would like a copy please pm me with a postal address and I will get them in the mail to you. They might be useful at some point in the future.

Regards
Peter
