Two packages were waiting for me when we got home from the hospital yesterday. Look at what was inside! A Bessa R with CV 25mm lens and a black FED2 with Jupiter12 35mm lens. (I did some rearranging David.) These should be fun! Does anyone have a 35mm external finder they would be willing to sell?

Frank, that FED doesn't give up a thing in terms of looks compared to the Bessa. BOTH are very nice, indeed! You should be pleased as punch.
I look forward to seeing images from each of them.

You are right about the FED, Walker. It feels great too. The viewfinder is dim however, especially compared to the excellent Bessa viewfinder. That's why I figured I'd leave the Jupiter12 on the FED and get an external 35 viewfinder for it. I've read that the J12 does not fit on the Bessa due to its protruding rear element. It right out there, completely unprotected so I don't even want to try.

Frank, have in mind that if the Fed-2 is not one of the later models with a higher acc shoe, the usual FSU finder won't save the top deck step unless you come to some home-made solution.
I agree, both are beautiful !

Good point, Oscar! Luckily it is one of the later models with a raised hotshoe, so no problem with mounting a finder.

Probably your best bet is to take a look at some FSU ebay sellers (grizzly33bear, alex-photo, etc) and while you're at it order something more like a black J8 for the Fed-2, it's crying for one !

Frank,
That black FED does look nice!
I found my J12 (chrome) on Ebay, with the 35mm finder. Looks very nice on the Zorki 4K.
You shouldn't have any trouble finding one.

don't pass up a chance for one of the 70s
japanese aftermarket finders, like accura, etc.

About a year ago I paid $40 for a KMZ 35mm finder from Denis Borodin in Russia through eBay; It came in a homemade cardboard box wrapped in brown paper tied with string. Looks like a very nice viewfinder with very minimal barrel distortion.
