[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

Kevin has done a remarkable job considering not only answering a myriad of e-mails and PM's but also the logistics for all the lenses, Now consider that Kevin most likely has other everyday life responsibilities (aside from the replica lens) and he deserves a lot of credit for undertaking this endeavor.

Just received mine a few minutes ago. What a well-made and beautiful lens!
And guess what: mine has very nice/lucky numbers 😀

Many thanks to Kevin for all the effort and arrangements.

Is there also a lens with number 138/500 or is it only 500138?

Based on Kevin's posts over the past year and a half, an LTM version would be released and available to readers of this thread.

Rather than continually ask for updates, it was best to be patient and sporadically inquire about status, in order to not become bothersome. This thread blew up in a huge way and it certainly took up a lot of Kevin's time; none of us has any idea how much, no doubt...

But it's disappointing to see that patience was not a virtue in this case, that an LTM version actually does exist as seen in the photo I posted a few weeks ago, but it apparently isn't available to thread readers after all.

I wasn't the only one that stated interest in an LTM.

What's even more unfortunate is that Kevin has been visiting the forum every few days for the past three months yet has chosen to remain completely silent in this thread during that time.

Me too, and have heard nothing since I asked Kevin a question back in May. At this point I'm pretty resigned to not getting one. I would like to have my brass lens with custom engraving, but maybe I'll just pick up a used version 2 down the road some day. Or, maybe Santa Claus will honor my wishes and I'll get the word from Kevin before the end of the year.

I'm still waiting, and I'm in the first batch...

The brass V2LC that we've seen floating around are tarnishing already. Last we heard, they were still testing the best finish.

Customer service is a tough gig. Waiting sucks, and I wish they had organized the rollout better, but you'll get your lens in the end, and it will be totally worth it. 😀

funny how most of us haven't gotten the lens and you guys already talking about the copy lens being the future "collectibles'' lol
they are doing a remarkable job remaking the lenses. seems like they will continue to tackle different classic lenses (hopefully) in the niche market

I have no complaints about the lens. I wanted a brass finish lens but got a black one due to availability. No lens hood. Affordable cost. I have a Summicron V1 and I don’t really need the replica. The idea is very interesting to me. Rare lenses can be cloned.

Confidence restored. Thank you!

For all of you holding your breath for your 8-element copy, consider that Leica is coming out with a revived 35 Summaron ƒ/2.8 in 2021. 6-bit coded and new lens coatings like the 28 Summaron. I have the original and unless you absolutely need ƒ/2, the Summaron is a better lens in the same package; higher contrast and resolution at equivalent apertures (according to the eminent Erwin Puts).

Just sayin'.

Well; I believe that each will sure has its own market, both the Authentic Leica and Replica. I don't think that LLL target is to beat Leica authentic products.

I myself have own 2 other Leica 35mm lenses (the Summicron IV and Summaron 2.8) but the idea to have a brand new BLACK PAINT and customized engraving was very attractive especially with the $600 shipped price tag.

Now I have 35mm Lenses.

The first batch hasn’t even yet been delivered fully and after that it’ll be double or triple the $500. A 6-bit coded lens from Leica with a warranty that you can order and be assured of delivery is very compelling.

Is this confirmed, or just rumored at this point? Rather interesting considering the 35/2.5 Summarit.
