[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

This is a quite impressive project!
Thanks a lot for sharing the process Kevin.

I'm particulary interested in the 1:1.2/50 development and I have a question regarding that one. In post #746 the maker replicates the special Leitz glass 900.403.
But from my understanding, when looking in Erwin Puts "Leica lens compendium" this was a new glass type developed for the 1:1.0/50 version (i.e. approx. 10 years after the 1:1.2/50 version). Maybe it is only me misinterpreting the text from Puts, I'd appreciate any input on this.

This is a good question. Before I've also read Erwin Puts and all the other people's articles, discussions online. Regarding No.900.403 glass, I also have the same wonder when I was searching for information about the Noctilux 50 1.2. So I asked the maker about the 900.403 glass.

The maker said the second and fifth lenses in Noctilux 50 1.2 are 900403 glass. This kind of glass has also been used in the Nocitlux 50 1.0. The difference between them is that Leica's own laboratory produces the glass in 50 1.2. 50 1.0 uses 900.403 produced by Leica authorized optical glass factory in France. Leica has a glass laboratory that specializes in the development of some very special glass. However, it does not have large-scale production capacity and can only be supplied in small quantities.

No worries Kevin.
That black finish looks fantastic, and I love the engravings on the caps and container.
When you have time, will you confirm my order?
