[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

Way way off topic, but, my lens which is on its way, is 434/500. Being curious what those numbers could mean, I Googled them. That's when I found out that the sequence actually stands for "Love, Joy, Hope." (4 letters, 3 letters, 4 letters). It's the way you should live your life!

It's a very strange video - but entertaining - if you are into strange videos. Just knowing that 434 does not mean "Die, You! Die!" is rather a bit of relief. 🙂

I don't know about your sources. My Chinese-American colleague tells me your number means death/to part ways/death. Seems Kevin saved a problematic copy for you. It is likely that no one in China wanted such a combo.

Just toss salt over your shoulder when using it and you should be fine....

I recall having lunch with Tom A and he said a buyer asked whether a Rapidwinder with lucky serial number was available. Of course the winders didn’t have serial numbers but the buyer didn’t know that. So Tom engraved 008 on it!

I once had an under the sink water filter system with number 666.
A friend of mine helped me install it. He was shocked when saw the number.

Did you believe what is shown in this video?

My personal opinion is that he never came back from his "magic mushroom trip". No, I don't believe in that stuff, but did find thoughts expressed to be interesting. It takes all kinds to make the world go round.

"death/to part ways/death" - seems pretty final, huh? Well, it was nice knowing you all. Just have my next of kin put it in the casket with me, will you? (Just kidding.) I would have asked for money back if I thought a number could cause my death - twice.

Been following Mr. Zhou's social media. Apparently he's already built a prototype for the Elcan replica and been off testing it.

I have received the Elcan 50 2 replica prototype. I sent my original Elcan 50 2 to them to let them scan the lens to compare the data they have. And to make the replica closer to the original.

I did some tests last week, but I don't have the time to organize them yet. I will probably start a new thread to show the result.

if you did not have email confirmation back to Dec/2019 then I think you will have to wait for later batch.

I ordered on 9 Dec '19
Payment sent on 18 Aug '20
now waiting for Kevin to contact me again when my lens is available to be shipped.

Did you fill in the Google form back in December 2019?

Yes > great, you're on the list > wait for Kevin to contact you.

No > tough luck kiddo, you're not on the list > eBay?

I'd be very surprised if Kevin's up for handling another batch of reissue 35mm lenses tbh. The future might just be... Want a reissue lens? Off to eBay with you then!

I saw your lens in the photo next to my lens that Kevin shared with me. That’s why I say it’s strange - your lens is 434/500 and mine is 500122 - completely different numbering system...
