Hi I am new here and contend with an autistic glitch which means that nothing is ever real or ''known''.
However I months ago , i found an article in Amateur Photographer about Zorki cameras.
Summing up the nerve to talk to'' real people '', I actually went in to a Leica dealer and was intoduced to a Leica iIIc / f /g .. and the Zorki 1.
It was the Leica however that was immediately real for me , in a way that has never ever happened before.

Just before he died, my dad saw how much these diminutive cameras mean't to me, and he gave me enough money for a small collection of Leicas and copies.

Len , of R.G.Lewis in london found a lovely IIIf red dial Elmar which was a good price 'cos of a tiny dint, then a IIIc Summitar for me , and has taken care of my awkward , hesitant , enthusiasm with respect and patience.

Since then frantic e-bay selling of old toys has fuelled another IIIc body and two delightfull black 1932/3 IIs with nickel Elmars.

These have been supplemented by cost effective Zorkis and Feds , though some are ""Leica'' engraved 'cos I have difficulty with Russian letters.

in my head 'I'' am still a child in a scary grown up world, but my 60 birthday is next month , and my daughter has bought me a 1947 IIIc body, recently serviced

My new companions surround and ground me in chaos , I now delight in making ''magic '' slide shows once again, and love the 50s qualiyty of images that I remember from old photo albums.

so, maybe leicas and pretenders for all the wrong reasons, but they have kept me together during the fading away of both parents.

no other camera could ever do this .

Thanks dee. I can relate. For sure, everyone with a pulse engages with personal difficulties/conflicts/stress ... often on a regular basis. And like you, many of us have found lots of relief and relaxation by excercising our creative muscles in either photographing or tinkering with these fine instruments. (And then hashing it all out with our comrades here at RFF! ;) ) All in all, it certainly helps keep us afloat, eh?

I love it when people find a way to overcome hardship. :)

Enjoy those cameras, enjoy the shooting, enjoy your life.
