From what I understand the one made by Tom Abrahamsson is a better product that you occasionally see used. I would sell the Leicavit, get the glass then if you start a project that needs it get a Rapidwinder.
Thanks for the replies the Leicavit will either be traded or will go on the bay, unless anyone makes me an offer for a new boxed chrome one with warranty etc. I thought Firewire 800 was way faster than USB 2.0? when I check on the net the consensus seems to be that USB 2.0 is slightly faster than Firewire 400
I believe you're right, llotse... According to my info, USB 2.0 transfers data at 480 megabits/sec, faster than the 400 for Firewire 400, but notably slower than Firewire 800's 800mb/sec speed. And Firewire seems pretty reliable; for finicky, try SCSI! 🙂
