Just picked up a nice Lynx 5000E from the Goodwill auction site. The pictures weren't that good and I thought it was a 14, but a 5000E will do nicely. The shutter was a bit sluggish, but a good flushing with lighter fluid cured that pretty quickly. Seems like you did a nice job on the disassembly. When you have come that far, why not clean the shutter properly instead of 'flushing'?

Depends on what you mean by "properly"

I try not to disassemble things any more than required. If the flush didn't work then I would have torn it down more, but it still would still have to be cleaned with a solvent of some kind. I have found that lighter fluid works for me, but there are certainly others that could be used.

Wow Russ, that is great to see details of the refurbishing process. We are lucky that you have the know how to bring these great old film cameras back to life! I have the same camera that I will be sending to you soon for the "spa" treatment. Great job !
