Have you ever wanted an expert opinion but didn't know who to contact? I am happy and excited to announce a new TYPE of forum at RFF. "Coffee with the Experts" is hosted by internationally recognized photographic experts. These kind folks have graciously agreed to share their knowledge with RFF members. Please appreciate their willingness to share their knowledge.

Each expert hosts their own forum, answering members questions and introducing topics of interest. RFF is very lucky to have some of the camera world's best in their fields as forum hosts. In alphabetical order, Tom Abrahamsson (the inventor of the RapidWinder, MiniSoftRelease, and noted rangefinder expert), Peter Dechert (famous author camera historian of the Canon Rangefinder Book, Olympus Pen Monograph, and many other camera articles), Jonathan Eastland (famous author of the Leica M Compendium and many other articles), NHS members hosting the NHS Nikon Historical Society forum at RFF (don't confuse the small NHS forum here with the much larger NHS website). Really folks, these people are EXPERTS. RFF is fortunate to have their contributions. Be forewarned that knowledge can be addictive and habit forming.

IMPORTANT: Coffee with the Experts WORKS DIFFERENTLY than the other forums at RFF. It is designed to share expert knowledge with RFF members from people who really know. RFF members are encouraged to ask questions or contribute to the discussion. The hosts provide expert opinions. Additionally hosts have moderation power within their forums. Threads or posts the hosts don't see as appropriate or interesting may be deleted to keep the forum going in the desired direction.

You can find the Coffee with the Experts Forum from the Forum main page.

Have Fun Folks,

Stephen

Wow cool! Great idea!

Hey, if you ever want to start "Coffee with a nobody", sign me up! :) (Or more appropriately, "Hey Nobody, go get me my coffee" ;) )

Great idea and the way to go.

The experts all seem to be camera experts, not photo experts, could you find a few people to talk about light, exposure, color, film, composition and so on?

But it is a very interesting innovation from the head bartender anyway.

John, I am with you here. I do find my cupboard full of mouldering Zorkis endlessly fascinating. I would find hearing in depth from some inspiring photographers even more enjoyable.

DEAR BARTENDER,
EXCELLENT INITIATIVE !

Now a small issue to be solved. Would You like to invite each of these experts to define the areas they are ready to talk about ? True, you have said something about it, but it really may be case that a gearhead has a lot of expertize too in other photographic areas.

Just a proposal, and many thanks.

Ruben

I believe Peter and Bob have done so Ruben, and Tom has been with us for a while.

Nice idea, thanks! I've already started pestering Peter and am eager awaiting his reply ;)

I second Jon's and Donald's suggestion to invite somebody who is more of an expert on photography rather than photographic gear. RFF at the moment is leaning more and more towards the gearhead side of photography; maybe a little counterweight would be a nice thing.

Another suggestion: can you update the Forums sidebar (on the left) to incorporate some of these recent changes?

Hi Philipp,
About the other side you and most of us want it too, we are "waisting" a very young genius among us, signing as Beniliam. He happens not to speak English with ease, and he is an extremely humble human. Yet both in his pics and in his thoughts about the Art of photography he embraces unique treasures you will not find elsewhere.

Try to squeeze him a bit, he will stand it.

Cheers,
Ruben

New TYPE of Forum: Coffee with the Experts

Everybody's already said it: A great idea to an already very fine RFF...

Hi all, very nice idea. Always anithing to learn , when specialists vulgarize what they know. Debating about pictures themselves could be also a good subject .

Thanks, Stephen!
This is a great resource to have here at RFF.
Any chance of Mr. Princelle joining us for coffee?
Rob
