I have the CV Nokton 50/1.5 Ver II M mount, which I love. What would I gain with the new Heliar?

The samples' quality looks similar to the Nikkor SC 50/1.4 wide open but without the special glow. The bokeh is even busier in a way
If by "special glow" you mean that Nikkor 5cm f1.4 lens shot fully open veiling flare, then it is a good thing that this new Heliar lens does not have that.
I never liked that veiling flare .

It does seem to have some of that, but I guess unavoidable given the design and single coating. What's old is new again, I guess.

The image above reminds me of my Luxon 50/2 adapted to LTM from Braun Paxette mount. The OOF looked also special with that lens. Brian Sweeney changed the mount to M, with RF focus. This lens is rather rare now.

In case anyone missed it there is another set of samples here.
I like that they made this focus a little closer than just the limits of the RF.

The B&W Images are taken in very low light but they are compelling.

Early days but there a certain clarity to the b/w images that seems to pop. Im thinking its suited well for black and white.
Although I cant scientifically say for certain but imo low element count lenses seem to have that sparkle that is difficult to achieve in overly corrected, high element count lenses.

A very interesting lens, I love its exterior design and as a lover of vintage lenses I like the concept in general. Will wait out to see photos on film though, I find that bokeh is often smoother on film, less harsh.
