Hi Will,
Indeed it was why I wanted so badly to get on the Gaia roster. I have been banging my head against a wall lately trying to get work with some style, craft and global importance run in anything these days. I still to this day get cheques in the mail from a jessica simpson promo job almost a year and a half ago but half to basically beg to get people interested in the stuff out of Nigeria. The work out of Chad is essentially worth nothing.
I have made a commitment to stop answering those calls (AP, CP and the entertainment centric press) and even said no to a fairly lucrative job this past weekend. I am a far happier and will eventually be a far more successful photographer as a result!
Nelson - It is very sad. It also has far bigger implications than folks understand. In the myopic quest for oil revenue the country has allowed all other agriculture and manufacturing to collapse. The agricultural end has a lot of people very, very worried as many neighboring countries have relied on Nigeria for food for a long time. It is the makings of a very large famine happening right now. I am working on returning soon to focus a bit more on that end of the story and it seems a few folks are interested (finally)!
thanx for the comments and interest. it is very, very important to me.
