New year, new camera.

Having got a job that demands a lot of time, I decided the time spent developing and scanning images would be better spent creating more photographs. So I sold my M6, and VC 35mm lens, replacing it with an X100.

Below are four shots with my old system, which if I could ever get close to producing on the X100 I'll be very pleased. From my time so far, I see no reason why I couldn't. The latter images are a selection from the X100. I'd love to know what you think of these and if you've got any tips that might help me.

I think its a lovely camera, although I miss the simplicity of the Leica, and tones of film. I will return at some point.

Your M6 images are especially good. Hopefully you'll match them with the Fuji over time - good luck !!

you'll be ok with the x100. you can shoot BW, too, and see which one you like best from the x.

ive shot b&w with numerous digicams over the years, including the 5d, and have never been 100% happy with OOC jpegs until the x100. i think it renders b&w beautifully without any PP. but that's one of the nice things about digital: with very little time investment tou can try a film simulation software and change tones at the single press of a button. it probably will not replace the film look you have in your head, but might get you closer to what you want. my preference is shooting people with the 'green' filter, most landscapes with either the 'yellow' or 'red'. i think the 'green' really brings out subtle changes in skin tone.

as for color, again, the 'pop' i get from tne X is very reminiscent of my 5d coupled with zeiss planar T* lenses, so i really enjoy color. ive found that provia setting with auto dynamic range works best for me. velvia setting is nice, but tends to clip shadows. you ca correct this by setting 'Shadow Tone' to its lowest setting.
