First off, bought then sold my Nokton 50 1.1 a few years ago.
So today I was at a store and was talking to sales dude about VC lenses and when we got on the topic of the 1.1 that was in the display, he said that this was a newer version that had closer focusing than the first iteration. This was the main reason I sold the lens tbh, it lacked closer focusing than I prefered.
So was this guy blowing smoke or is there indeed another version with closer minimum focus distance ?

There is one version of the 50/1.1 and two versions of the 50/1.5.
The old 50/1.5 and the 50/1.1 look very similar, though.

So far only one version of the 50/1.1.
The newest version of the 50/1.5 M has closer focusing. The sales guy probably confused the 50/1.1 and 50/1.5 lenses.

thanks for the info, much appreciated. I'll be charitable and allow he got the lenses mixed up
