Digital sensors can get damaged by such non-retrofocus lens. It cannot be used as is on the M8 or M9. I am sure of it. It has to be a film camera.
I have a Nikon RF camera and several Leica film RF cameras.
The Nikkor-O 21mm f/4 is specifically shaped to key into the Nikon F and F2 bodies, and shouldn't be used on anything else without understanding the keying and how to implement it.

There are others with Buy It Now listings in the $40 to $59 range. I just bought one myself, for $55, for my plain prism Nikon F. (I like waist level finders.)
