how does it compares with 1.4 version?

Smoother bokeh, more even performance across the frame, overall a better lens if you don't need the extra aperture opening.

I picked up one of these on the big auction site, as well as a metabones ltm/m adapter.
What would be the best lens to 6-bit code the nikkor h-c to?

I am looking forward to using it.

Mine was fixed on a Waltz Envoy from late 60`s. Too bad the camera film transport failed within four years. Still have all the negs, contact sheets, and slides from then.
I was pleased with the images all through college. Bought a Pentax Spotmatic after graduation.

I have a summicron F2 coding, from left to right holding it in my hand with the knob on the right side:
BBBWBW
And that works good.
By the way I had the flange recess increased so the rangefinder follows the lens now to 70 cm (and not the 1 m from the original factory design)..,

I picked on of these up at a thrift store today, on a Canon VT that has seen better days. The lens itself is in great kit and appears to have always had a filter attached.
I planned to use it on my really nice FED-1, but the balance isn't great. Very front heavy.
Maybe I'll get an M adapter to used it on my M3.
Thanks for the thread.

I just overhauled one of these a few nights back
they were very well-made

I love mine, it's very good wide-open despite some vignetting. I love the character of the rendering, too.

Hi folks,
Well this thread didn't help me ward off my temptation for this lens and I ended up becoming the very happy new owner of one this week. Here's my new little gem matching very nicely with my M3
Apart from general shooting, I am really interested in using this lens in its close focus range, and did a test shot to measure just how close this thing really focuses. Carefully positioning the end of my metric tape measure where I think the film plane would be in my M3, I took this shot at f2
The two red blobs on either side of the plane of focus are 40 and 50. Its nice to see the MFD is indeed 45cm, as reported elsewhere. We can also see that the DoF is only about 2cm close up and wide open.
I definitely won't be trying to scale focus this lens close up and wide open, but stopped down I think the DoF is enough to capture cliche flower shots and such
I just need to work on my framing a little
