Not the tidiest example, but certainly an interesting listing. I wonder where the bidding will go.

NIKON KIU
Did you say Nippon Kogaku

Should fetch at least $5K even though someone drilled a hole in it to have flash synch and is missing a bunch of covering, partially NAKED!
The 3.5 lens that comes with 609149 is really rare in collapsible Nikon mount, estimates are under 100 units, I believe may be 25 are in existence today. The 3.5 is much more plentiful is screw-mount than in Nikon mount.
That's the second raelly rare item that pops out of UK during the last 2 months, the first was this one:

NHS member snapped up the 906 camera.

I might get it, strip the chrome, paint it black, and put green leatherette on it. That'd be cool!

Or just put it in a wood chipper, it would be yours.

Most probably 609149 will end up there as well.
All cleaned with new clothes....

Please, No wood chipper. A painful thought.
It would damage the blades on the wood chipper.

That's what I was thinking, it'll definitely ruin the chipper.
Well for what it's worth, I am leading the bids with a little under a day to go.
$2200 and going....

It made GB£3825. Yours Kiu?
That's somewhere around 1% of the price of the WestLicht example. A bargain!

There's a big differance between the westlicht camera and the ebay one .
The camera in the westlicht auction is perhaps the 3rd actually sold , the numbers 6091-60921 were test cameras made to think out the idea of a nikon camera .
Since nikons were not assembled in numeral order , so perhaps within the first ones sold at least , these cameras had quite a few differances from cameras even 100 units later .
For $4800 us the nikon one on ebay was a good buy ,
For a camera so rare it's best not to change anything , replacing the curtains or fitting new leather would only detract from collector interest and value .
Crazy you say?
There are many more common 609 cameras that could be finished in imperial red lacquer with eel skin cover if you so desire .

The Westlicht one sold for EUR384,000.
384,000 Euro for the earliest Nikon camera
A Nikon One climbed from 90,000 to 384,000 Euro, the highest price ever paid for a camera from the long-standing Japanese manufacturer at an auction. The world record was achieved at the 30th Camera Auction in WestLicht’s 15th year. The record lot is the earliest known surviving example of a Nikon camera in the world, manufactured in April 1948 as the third ever serially produced camera by Nikon. This was also an early birthday present for Nikon company, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2017.
