I'm looking for my FM2na 28 mm CRC F 2,8.

Is there a way to distinguish this lens from other 28 F 2,8 when you see it?

A shop where I live has one for sale but I'm not sure if it is the CRC or a different version.

Any suggestion? Thanks in advance

Robert,

I think what you want is the Nikon 28/2.8 AIS. This is the updated manual focus 28 that has the CRC and the most updated coatings.

On the rear of the F-mount on AIS lenses is a shallow scoop on the flange that is about the size and shape of a coin slot on a battery compartment.

Anyways this is regarded by many as one of the best 28's ever made.

I think you will like it's small size. I use the smaller AH-1 for a hood instead of the recommended AH-2 to keep it small.

Serial N° is 805228, according to VTHokiEE supplied table should be it! Interesting table anyway, thanks!
Tomorrow I'll go to the shop to check!
Thanks you both.

Another quick way to discern versions of this lens is that the AI version (non-CRC) has the lens information printed outside the filter threads, along the front edge of the focusing ring. The AIS version has the printing on the ring inside of the filter threads.

Although similar in size, the optical design is different. I've owned both, and while the AI version was an adequate performer, the AIS is a big improvement. This lens is my favorite wideangle and pretty much lives on my F3 body.

easiest way is that the ais versions goes to 0,25 meters and the ai versions goes to 0,30 meters.

Thanks for all suggestions, there is always something to learn and this forum is full on friends with an huge knowledge.

And today I bought it, it's exactly what I was looking for, lens was in excellent conditions and I'll test it next week on my FM2, thanks

looks very nice Robert. My first w/a was a 28mm, I've always liked that focal length (but I don't own one currently). Enjoy your new lens!

Robert,

You can do a lot of photography with that rig. The 28/2.8 AIS does not disappoint, and it is like a macro lens in that it has great close focusing abilities. Anyways a very compact rig.
