Nikon 39mm filters

Nikon makes/made 39mm threaded filters for rear mounting
on some Nikkor tele lenses. Anyone know if these will fit
39mm front-mount filter threads on Bessa/Leica and similar
lenses?

Yes, one of these fits my Heliar 50mm/f2. However, the front cap for the Heliar does not very well hold on to the filter and falls off, so I stopped using it since I only used a UV filter, more for lens protection than anything else.

But if you really want to use these filters, they sure work.

Same here. Sold one by a knowledgeable shop who said it would fit. It didn't. They took it back. So beware.

They are a strange shape since the threaded part is thicker than the filter rim. They work well on tele lenses, like Tele Elmarit and Tele Elmar. The one I had, I ended up disassembling and putting the glass in a Leitz filter ring. Beat up Leitz filter + Nikon new filter is still way cheaper than an equivalent new Leitz filter, and the Nikon MC glass is second to none ....
