Nikon DF Images and Experiences...

I hope I don't offend you, but is 2015 still a year to make Al conversions? They are not really rare lenses or collectible but they are becoming scarce. Wouldn't it be better to sell them to someone who appreciate them as they are and buy the Al version with the money, or simply keep the two? For istance, I wouldn't mind to have a nice Pre Al 85mm F1.8 lens, but I wouldn't want a converted one. Even tough it can be used even with my oldest F just doesn't feel right.

Pre-AI Nikkors are very plentiful with literally thousands made so I do not see an issue AI'ing them. The exception would be the very early ones that do have collectable value. As for going to the AI versions, I'll pass. I do not like the rubberized focusing collars and other changes that I consider cheapen the look and feel. Also, the pre-AI lenses can be had for insanely low prices. There is a camera store chain here in Minnesota that sells online where I picked up five or six pre-AI Nikkors for less than the cost of one when sold new back in the late 60's and early 70's.

So glad to read this thread! Beautiful photos here and on flick river and rotten reviews (online), yet really good, in the main, user reviews...I'd never have thought how good it is for manual focus, otherwise, I'd have been saving up for one.

I've had mine for a little over a month and I'm loving it. Great image quality, and very pleasant handling, particularly if you use lenses with aperture rings. Bought mine with a set of D primes, but have started picking up some AIs lenses (50 1.2, 105 2.5, and 28 3.5).

I'm finding this thread very interesting because I'm currently in the market for a used D4 which reputedly uses the same sensor. I really like the colours from this sensor ... an it doesn't have the eye bleeding sharpness of many of the current full frame sensor/camera combinations.

The Distagon is quite easy to focus with the standard Df screen. I use the green dot to confirm focus.

I've been doing some homework on a full frame Nikon based body...read a decent review on the D3x and thought that would do it then a while back I saw something on the Df...
I liked the look of the Df and now after reading this tread it's really made it the leader for me...I really like the old school design of using film body controls...the images push it over the top...

I am wondering how you plan to use two Df bodies? I use various primes and find that I change lenses often and two bodies would be nice, but a lot of weight.

I'd like to sell my entire m43 kit and get another Df body myself.

I've gotten over the size / weight thing and tend to use small(ish) primes only. I bought a bigger camera bag. I'm not a huge fan of changing lenses while out there photographing.

With my recent step backward into the world of my old F2SB with the purchase of my Df body, I have taken a huge step forward from my never to be used again, now to be sold still confusing Fuji XE-1. I picked up the Df, popped on a 50mm 1.2 and was transported to 1978 when i bought my F2SB. Love at first feel. Nikon, don't dump the buttons, just dump the menus if you must change anything. A photographic rebirth for me; Thanks, Nikon.

I was in at Harvey Norman picking up a new computer keyboard and spotted a black DF in their cabinet ... first time I've seen one in the flesh.

A bit plasticky looking IMO ... I was kind of disappointed!
