Nikon DF

Is anyone else stoked on the appearance of the viewfinder eye hole on this camera resembling the F3HP-style circular hole we find on Nikon pro SLRs as opposed to the squinty rectangular ones we find on the D600 and lower cameras? I love this feature but I also fear it's a sign that it's going to be priced accordingly....

I'm stoked... It may be the only Nikon I've desired in over ten years. Can't wait until the release.

I love what they have done. Modern DSLR with classic looks.

I bet they sell heaps of them. Younger photogs are just as sick of the jelly bean as us old timers. 🙂

Before the D800 was released for pre-orders the rumor was 4k$ but ended up being 3K$ and that was even including an oil lubricated sensor.
I wonder if this camera also will have this not so nice feature. 🙄

I doubt they'll have the dirty/oily shutter issues. Nikon surely would have fixed that on this camera.

$3,000 sounds cheap when compared to Anything made by Leica. 😉
I've paid more than that for a second hand M lens. 🙄

Whether Nikon get it right or wrong can be a little subjective because as this thread proves we all seem to want something different! 😀

A smaller (nicely styled) full frame DSLR with actual manual controls is a good start in my book ... bring it on! 🙂

Tell the truth now... I'm not a Nikon fan boy by any stretch but ... Which one is the most desirable? 🙂
by looks? Which I don't give a damn about? The Oly. Which I will never own. 🙂

The Nikon reminds me of Marlon Brando at 60: reminds you of Fletcher Christian...sort of 🙂

I guess there is some advantage if it's a little big. This one took a bullet for Don McCullin in Vietnam in 1968.

Not sure if the current build will be up to that 😉

I'd like to see our Scottish friend spend a little time in Syria before I pre-order, who's with me?

We could see how that DF leads him around Aleppo 😱

I really wish they didn't use that plasticky nikon splatter finish on it - that finish has always looked cheap to me in comparison to canons powder coated style texture on their top end models. Otherwise, It kinda looks like a weird lower model nikon crossed with an f3 - too fat to be a film cam.

Love the shutter speed dial - IMO an essential part of camera design.

If the viewfinder in this camera is geared towards prime lenses and manual focusing, I am in. I imagine zeiss is licking their lips over this - the ZF primes would be a match made in heaven if manual focussing is as good as I think it will be!

I reckon my D700 could stop a bullet ... maybe an RPG? 😛

That is a sh!tty finish IMO ... a decent satin black is hard to go past.

At least we can be fairly certain they'll never offer it in drab olive or white! 😱 😀
