i was out today with my FM2 and 50mm f/1.8 AI and i admit it, that's pure photography 🙂

seriously, it seems to me that nikon is too late for the party and that mirrorless cameras hold the future. OTOH, nikon produces cheap dSLRs for mass market and workhorse cameras for pros, hard to imagine any of these demographics splashing their cash out on a luxury camera, which it seems this will be... but i'm loving teaser videos 🙂

My guess, based on camera thickness, is that due to registration distance, this Nikon(like all Nikons) won't accept rangefinder lenses or many other legacy slr lenses either. Which will still leave Sony with the clear advantage in this FF game. The A7/r can take just about any lens you throw at it.

Also, I really like the looks of the Sony A7/r. It looks cleaner to me than either the Nikon DF or the OMD. Though I have no idea how well any of them handle.

Looks like a real camera to me.
By the time you add aftermarket grips and other "enhancements" it will look worse.
For me this design looks very functional 🙄

I quite like the design. Particularly that rewind knob -- for putting all those digital shots back into the SD card I imagine!

Or is the 'hybrid' designation of the camera referring to a film/digital combo????

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that the ads are so slow and considered? Is this a landscape camera? In my mind, dedicated ISO and shutter speed knobs make the camera quicker to operate, and less prone to user error to boot. Seems to me it's a shoot from the hip, warzone camera.

Anyway, I'm intrigued. I shoot Canon, but dedicated knobs/dials/switches could change that, depending on other factors. Quite an ugly camera, though, if the mockup is accurate. And what's the deal with that film rewind knob?

Well, all I know is that Nikon's marketing department has me salivating. I want one. Now, it may be true that after Tuesday, I may change my mind, but today, I am hooked.

Perhaps I am just less cynical than many of you.

The mockup shown looks ... well... not so good. Let's hope they can do better.

And yes, I am intrigued too - albeit the price tag will be probably mean it is out of reach.

I went out today,sans camera, saw a band,had a beer and am back home just wishing for a simple, analogue controlled dslr that will take legacy lenses.
That is all.

One day my wish will be fulfilled on the strength of Olympus, Sony and now Nikon. This, I feel is going to work. But I could easily be totally wrong, hey ho. 🙂
