Great! A thread to remind me how great the F4 is, just when I was thinking of selling mine! 😀:bang:

Not sure about in Canada Frank, but here in the UK, Grays would be a good place to try.

Have you seen the prices at Grays, I've noticed on ebay broken F4s are almost the same price as working ones. I have about four f4s I think two work the shutters seem to stick after a while if not used. Great cameras I can still remember looking at them in the shop window when I was a young teenager! back then from memory they were about £1800.
When I do use them I'm a great fan of the mb20, shame the f5 wasn't made that way.

Good news: My glue up job held and the camera works with its repaired battery tray. 🙂

I think that the way the tray is inserted and held, it should be okay over the long run too.

Given an inexpensive opportunity though, I would still buy a replacement battery tray.

This thread has got me thinking that I had a broken battery holder on my F4 and glued it too..I'm pretty sure that I did buy a replacement holder just in case...so somewhere around here might be a repaired holder...
Also my second F4 was "As Is" not working...but turned out fine...

Yes...ebay...but that would have been maybe 5 years ago...

I glued the broken battery holder on an Nikon F90x, it lasted for a couple of years before breaking again.

I wish I could find a MB-20 that doesn't cost as much as the camera itself.

It would be nice if the P focus screen also didn't cost as much as the camera itself.

Short answer: 28f2.8 and 50f1.4 = most used, individually and as a combo

Long answer:

All AI Nikkor: 20f2.8, 20f3.5, 28f2.8, 35f2, 50f1.8E (best value), 50f1.4, 50f3.5 Micro, 100f2.8E (much lighter than the f2.5)

I also have a few 50f2 non AI for my non-AI bodies.

Along the way I got some zooms but I don't use them much. Vivitar Series 1 28-90, Kiron 70-210.

An FG with 50f1.8E is a great lightweight and capable combo.

I'd like to see F7 also, with latest developments from this decade. If I recall, F6 is based on D2, including its apsc size focusing area. But, knowing Nikons priorities are elsewhere, its nice they still do even the F6.
