Nikon RF soft release

was looking for one for my user nikon s2.. i checked google but theres not much info about it.. too many links to AR-1. would that work on nikon RFs?

The AR-1 works fine on the S2. It does stick up a bit and is prone to snagging in clothing and on straps.
At some time I want to make a specific Softie for the Nikon Rf's. I have the design - but it is considerably more complex than the M-Softie as it needs at least 4 parts. It would have a similar "dome" shape as the M - but with a spring action built in.

Been looking for a soft release to work with an S2. Of course, a new one from Tom designed specifically for Nikon RFs would be the best solution!
 
Darn, Tom. If you make a Nikon RF softie, then I'll have to buy myself a Nikon RF. You are a bad influence! When my wife eventually asks about another camera appearing in my hands, I will point the finger at you.;)

Just thought I'd mention that at least a couple of sellers on eBay, Lukavakeli and Heavystar, sell knock-offs of the AR-1 for about $8 to $10 USD with shipping. I'd still buy a Tom A soft release for Nikon RFs, though, even as I'm sure it would cost more than the eBay items.

I have several very old knock-offs and they all have nylon valves. Your sweaty, oily finger will mar the shutter release too? What's your point?
 
Don't worry, even with gloves you will eventually rub the chrome straight off of the release, but it may take longer than either of us have left to live.
 
Keep kicking myself that I passed up on buying lots of AR-1s for $5 each at the last camera show in February.. they seem to be selling for a lot more. They're a great accessory that will really improve your success rate with slow shutter speeds. The only thing I hate about them is all the accidental shutter tripping that goes on when one is mounted... half of my roll ends up being wasted due to applying the slightest amount of pressure to the release when I'm not thinking about it.:bang:

I'm glad I bought one of those shutter release there.. ;) I was close to spending $30 for one! :eek:
